As people of color we have a complicated idea of “home”. Our zine is a platform for film and art that reaches towards ancestral lineages which re-contextualize our present and build community across divides.
We aim to create a space where artists of color can find themselves in each other’s art and form relationships.
The roots connect once again, the past is revived, and the future is dreamt of.

ISSUE 02
If Volume 01 of homesickness was both a search for home and a return to it, then Volume 02 is best framed as a reckoning with the conditions that made us leave home in the first place.
Volume 02 leans into a certain tension inherent to process—the in-between, the “not-yet,” the moments when artists are neither promoting nor premiering, but instead grappling, searching, questioning. We ask: what happens when the process itself becomes the message? What ethics guide artists when the outcome is unclear? In this sense, volume 02 of homesickness is a document of becoming.
As artists of color, we must remain in motion together. Therefore homesickness continues to be about context—restoring it, preserving it, and resisting the forces that erase it.
If home remains uncertain, then resistance is the impulse and rhythm by which we search for it again.
